Onyx House

Directions

The book of Acts (Acts 2:42-47) tells us that for a special season in time, the early church had a unique living arrangement. We are told that the church devoted themselves to the Lord and to each other, enjoyed themselves immensely, and allowed the Lord to add to their number daily those who were being saved.Hanging out in the kitchenThat is a model for life at the Onyx House…a place where college-age people can pursue their relationships with Jesus, other students and the surrounding community. It is a place where students can accomplish their academic and career goals while being involved in campus ministry.

The Onyx House is not simply a Christian co-op, nor is it a hideaway. We strive to be a family, growing as we encourage and support each other. Every Friday night the Onyx House hosts a Bible study where people from all walks of life can worship and learn from the Word.

The Onyx House is run, operated and maintained by Eugene Faith Center and is an extension of the church’s college-age ministry. Faith Center has been involved with campus ministry for over 20 years. During that time, thousands of young adults have grown and been challenged in their faith.

Who Is It For

Living at the Onyx House is for college-age people who have a relationship with Jesus and have a passion to love people as Jesus did. Because the Onyx House is an extension of Eugene Faith Center, the house makes the church their family. We are one and the same. There are other commitments to living in the house, such as house jobs and attending “family gatherings”.

What Is It Like

Jamin' at the House The Onyx House can accommodate up to 62 people. It is divided into four floors. Men live on the second floor and women on the third. Recreation, living and dining rooms on the first floor and basement level serve to provide a relaxed, comfortable, family-style environment.

Each weeknight, the house cook prepares a meal. The Onyx House family gathers to eat dinner together. In addition, the cooking staff keeps a variety of food available so that individuals can prepare breakfast, lunch and weekend meals on their own.
The Onyx House is ideal…a great place to live and to explore your spiritual life in an environment safe to do so.
