Jesus

We are a college-age community that found life with God through Jesus. He is Mysterious, yet Majestic, Loving, yet Challenging, Passionate, yet Compassionate, Human, yet God. And we are falling in love with him.

What makes Jesus someone worth following?
Here are a couple of things we have experienced:

He is Loving. In a world that lacks real, authentic love, Jesus brings a new and amazing kind, to which we cannot help but be attracted. He loved his Father in Heaven with complete and utter abandon, and he loved the people around him with a love the world had not yet experienced. Jesus came to Love.

He is Passionate. Jesus lived anything but a status quo life, and in his passion, he came to save people. He gave his life so that we can be free. His passion for people affected those around him. Through Jesus, God passionately loves us, and we are learning to be as passionate as He is. Jesus came with Passion.

He is a Servant.Jesus did not come to begin a 2,000 year pyramid scheme; rather he came to serve with every ounce of blood, sweat, and tears that he had. What does this communicate about God? People are not saved by a CEO, but rather by One putting on a towel and washing the dirty feet of humanity. Jesus came to serve.

He came to Rescue. Though Jesus teaches us in amazing transformational ways to live our life, he also came to rescue us from our sinking ship. Without him, we would be relegated to the very ship in which we poked holes. By coming, Jesus set his heart on saving humanity by his life and death on the cross, paving the way to God. Jesus came to rescue us.

He gives life. His passion was to bring us life in the here and now. Yes, we see life as being something we will experience in eternity, but we also realize that Jesus came to bring us “eternal life” today in the midst of our ever day lives. Real life comes through Jesus, and we are learning that he desires to bring us new life. Jesus came to give life.

How do you begin to experience Jesus? Begin to follow. Try out what Jesus said: Choose to Love God with your heart, mind, strength, and soul, and then try to Love the people around you. But don’t do it alone. Try it with others who practice the same things. We are a people who are trying to do exactly that!

Vision

What we have found in Jesus has truly affected us. As a community of people we seek first and foremost to:

Love God with everything we’ve got, and Love people with everything He gives us. (Matthew 22:37-40)

We are learning to follow his vision. His radical vision is to see people all over the world begin to experience authentically their Creator, and move into a relationship that will give them meaning, purpose, and hope. We believe that the way for people to begin to experience God is to get around Jesus.

We are learning to become his Students. Though we may be learning academically, we look to Jesus for the truth that we need to live a life of meaning. We sit at his feet to learn, and learn we do. The message Jesus brings is a message that gives us passion to live our lives for God and not ourselves.

We are learning to become his Servants. We believe that Jesus came to serve and not to be served. It is through serving that Jesus changed the world, and it is the same means that we see the world being changed today. Jesus was a radical servant, not a self-serving tyrannical CEO. We seek to be like him.

We are learning to go into our world as his people. Jesus didn’t live in a church; rather, he was an active member of the transformation of the world around him. He went to parties and weddings, where he loved people. We seek to do the same. Whether in class, at home, Starbucks, or the nearby dorm, we seek to see Jesus and his message transformational in our culture around us.
